Thousands of people lined the streets of Ipswich to get the best possible vantage point as excitement hit fever pitch.

Families, workers and even yacht owners enjoyed a carnival atmosphere under the beaming sun.

As the torch touched dry land at Foxes Marina to begin its Ipswich journey, cheers echoed down the boardwalk, and sirens sounded from yachts moored at the quay.
A once in a lifetime opportunity for young and old residents of Ipswich, many could not resist purchasing torch paraphernalia and our staff were honoured to maintain the security at such a key Ipswich event.

The Olympic Torch comes to Ipswich

The Torch travelled through the streets of Ipswich followed by a celebration in Christchurch Park.

Ipswich Event Security by Stage Event SecurityThe Ipswich evening torch route took in five entertainment ‘hotspots’ including; The Old Customs House, Jerwood DanceHouse, Cromwell Square, Cornhill and the lower part of Christchurch Park, outside of the evening celebration site itself.

These hotspots featured local entertainment and were visited by the Presenting Partners advance activation vehicles providing entertainment and give-aways.  It was a big event and one that provided a lot of joy.

Stage Event Security provided a range of SIA licensed security staff and stewards to ensure the event ran as smoothly as possible.  We worked in conjunction with the council and event planners to ensure the smooth running of the event and that the Olympic Torch was seen by as many people as possible.
